Obituary For Herbert C. Bagby, Sr. 01/29/1921 - 02/24/2010

Herbert C. Bagby Sr., 89, of Tecumseh, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Herbert was born January 29, 1921 in Ashland, KY, the son of Kenneth and Lucille (Meade) Bagby. He married Eleanor Barrett in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 2002.
Herbert was a WWII veteran serving in the Phillipine Islands. He worked as a telephone cable splicer for GTE for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1983. Herbert enjoyed photography, loved to play cards and was an avid sports fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Herbert is survived by five sons, Kenneth J. Bagby of Waterford, MI, Herbert (Marilyn) Bagby Jr. of Macon, Jack (Kelly) Bagby of Grass Lake, MI, James (Kelly) Bagby of Navarre, FL and Robert (Lesa) Bagby of Tecumseh; two daughters, Denise (Jerry) Sibrt of Manitou Beach and Kathleen (Patrick) Johnson of St. Johns, MI; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Bagby of Tecumseh; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Levi (Lola) Bagby of Sun City, AZ and Robert (Wilma) Bagby of Flatwoods, KY; one sister, Anetta Dixon of Flatwoods, KY, and dear friend Donna Jean Rinehart. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joseph, three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes from 2 - 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh with Full Military Honors conducted under the auspices of the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and Tecumseh VFW Post #4187. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tecumseh Senior Citizens or to the Lenawee County Department on Aging.
